How to Use the Embroidery Digitizer
Upload a photo. Drop it in or browse to it. A preview will appear so you can see what you're working with.
Set your thread count. The color slider controls how many different thread colors the design uses. Fewer colors keeps things simple and faster to stitch. More colors adds depth and detail.
Set the width. Type in how wide you want the finished piece in inches. The height adjusts automatically.
Remove the background (optional). Hit "Pick Color to Remove" and click on the background color in your image — usually white or a plain solid. Click again to remove more shades. Press Escape when you're done.
Contrast Boost and Edge Outlines are nice extras. Contrast makes colors pop more. Edge Outlines traces your shapes with a stitched border, which really helps designs read cleanly on fabric.
Pick your file format. PES for Brother, DST for Tajima and most universal machines, JEF for Janome, EXP for Melco.
Click Generate. Watch the progress bar, then check the stitch preview when it's done. Click any color in the thread list to swap it out.
Download and stitch. Save the file, load it onto your machine, and you're ready to go.
